THE PROJECT

Private project of a digital sculpture of “Aurseth Void”, at 1/6 scale — an original dark fantasy character inspired by the duality between celestial and abyssal beings. The primary objective was to create a visually striking piece that showcases high-resolution 3D modeling and character design for collectible figures.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

The creation process of the 3D-modeled figure “Aurseth Void” began with the conceptualization of its silhouette and key design elements, aiming for an aesthetic that combined strength and elegance. We carried out several initial tests for the pose and composition to ensure the figure conveyed the intended narrative.

The main sculpture of the character and its details — including the ornate armor, wings, and rocky base — were entirely created in ZBrush. Special attention was given to anatomy, proportions, and the flow of forms to achieve a dynamic and expressive result.

Finally, the necessary cuts were made to ensure optimal printing and easy painting.

FINAL RESULT

We modeled a 3D digital sculpture of the character “Aurseth Void” in ZBrush, capturing his essence with an imposing presence and a high level of detail. The figure features intricately crafted armor and wings that evoke both protection and menace. Through his pose, weaponry, and the quality of the sculpt, we were able to tell his story visually.

THE PROJECT

We present a 3D-modeled bust of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, inspired by the legendary Assassin’s Creed saga, featuring an artistic level of detail designed to be the centerpiece of any collection. This bust embodies the spirit of the assassin: elegance, determination, shadow, and light intertwine across his face, hood, and iconic attire.

From Barruz Studio, with experience in licensed and highly detailed sculptures, we have created this bust as the initial piece that sets the aesthetic tone for the rest of the busts in the officially licensed collection.

CUSTOMER NEEDS

The client required a design of the character Ezio that met Ubisoft’s standards—a model that captured the essence of the character and featured recognizable traits, without turning into a mere copy.

Furthermore, this bust had to serve as the starting point for other busts, meaning that the volumes, proportions, and expressiveness needed to work as a foundation for future variations or editions.

Since it was produced under an official license, the bust had to go through the Ubisoft licensing team’s approval process.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

The first thing we did at Barruz Studio was to research and gather reference images from the game—official renders, illustrations, and concept art—all of which showed different views of the character. We paid close attention to every detail: the features of the face, the folds of the cloak, the textures, and ornamental elements such as the brooch and armor.

Once all the references were collected, we began sketching an initial 3D model, adjusting the volumes to validate the silhouette, facial structure, and overall proportions.

With the base and main volumes established, we began refining the model by sculpting wrinkles, adding texture to fabrics, and incorporating elements such as embroidery and leather, among others. We finalized the pose and expression to further reinforce the character’s identity.

When the 3D model was completed, it was sent to Ubisoft’s licensing team for their review and final approval.

FINAL RESULT

We modeled a highly detailed bust of Ezio Auditore, created under an official license and designed to serve as the aesthetic foundation for the rest of the Assassin’s Creed bust series. With this piece, we established the artistic direction to help the client develop the remaining busts in the collection more easily and successfully.

The Project

Sculpture of various 3D miniatures and their scenery for the innovative three-dimensional board game ‘Tongs of Ziran“, a fully 3D-printable project developed by White Gorilla Games.

Customer needs

The client needed to develop a collection of miniatures with a high level of detail and a unique artistic style, aligned with the fantastic and mystical aesthetic of the game.

Each miniature had to reflect the characters’ attitude inhabiting the universe of Tongs of Ziran, with dynamic poses that told their story within the game.

They also requested us to develop scenery compatible with the OpenLock system so that users could assemble their own scene as they wished. Additionally, we created some objects to enrich the scenes.

Project development

We were responsible for sculpting various 3D miniatures and elements based on the references provided by the client, ensuring aesthetic consistency and feasibility for printing and gameplay.

The team at Barruz Studio sculpted five different factions of miniatures with dynamic poses and detailed expressions, reflecting the epic essence of Tongs of Ziran.

To ensure an optimal result, we proposed and tested different pose options and adjustments to proportions until achieving a final version faithful to the client’s vision.

Each model was designed to be easily 3D printable without losing quality in the finer details, as well as ensuring perfect assembly for the scenery.

Once all the sculptures were completed, we proceeded with the final scale validation and exported each 3D miniature in the necessary formats for printing.

Final result

Logramos desarrollar una escenografía que permite al jugador crear su propio marco, además de 5 facciones, con un total 25 miniaturas, que capturan la esencia del mundo de Tongs of Ziran, aportando un nivel de detalle y dinamismo que apoyan la narrativa y esencia del juego para que tanto jugadores como coleccionistas puedan disfrutar de unas miniaturas de gran calidad.

THE PROJECT

Digital sculpture of several 3D miniature factions for the reissue of the legendary Chronopia board game.

CUSTOMER NEEDS

The client needed the development and 3D modeling of 132 miniatures, for 4 miniature factions, that followed the style of the original game illustrations, published in 1997.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

The client commissioned us to model several factions of 3D miniatures based on different illustrations and sometimes the original old hand-sculpted miniatures.

Since the original illustrations were very stylized, we designed the 3D miniatures following the original details, but with weights suitable for printing and production.

The digitally sculpted factions were: “First Men”, “Devout”, “Elves” and “Dwarves”; all with their signature style, weapons, and beasts.

When we had designed a detailed base for each 3D miniature with all its elements, we proposed several poses to the client based on their preferences, which we later finished detailing to achieve quality miniatures with a unique design.

Once all the miniatures were finished, we proceeded to carry out the last scale validation and exported each one in the necessary formats for printing and production.

FINAL RESULT

We modeled 132 miniatures, from 4 different factions of the Chronopia universe, in record time.

THE PROJECT

Private project of a 3D figure of Spider-Man with a classic suit on an antenna of a building, designed for a 1/4 scale.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

For this 3D figure, we sculpted a classic Spider-Man with interchangeable heads and hands, following the references provided.

The 3D figure is placed on a base with an antenna, which had to be of a size and thickness strong enough to support the weight of the Spider-Man figure, not split when produced, and not bend over time.

After finding the desired pose and defining the main volumes of the antenna, we work on the anatomy, trying to highlight the classic suit with a clean design.

For the high-resolution detail of the suit, it was necessary to split the body into different meshes in order to create many polygons that would support the texture of the red part of the suit, created with the NoisePlug tool from Surface Noise.

The lines of the 3D figure suit were painted in black on the white mesh to later convert them into polygroups that we cut to create a mesh with a thickness that can be subtracted with Live boolean from the original suit. In this way, we were able to add color and modify the lines to achieve the final result.

FINAL RESULT

We sculpted a 3D figure with a high level of detail, interchangeable heads and hands, and a solid and durable base.

THE PROJECT

Creation of designs and modeling of ¼ scale female 3D figures with fantasy medieval armor.

CUSTOMER NEEDS

The client wanted to create a collection of 3D figures in medieval fantasy style with various poses and different pieces to exchange. Everything was developed by our team following our client’s needs.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

Starting from an initial document with reference images and customer comments, we create each piece and dress of these 3D figures, as well as the variations of some elements.

After creating the pieces in pose A, we set up the character to be able to pose each element with a rig prepared for this specific client. We use this rig to quickly pose each figure.

Once the sculptures were finished we made the lace with holes for magnets typical of the ¼ scale statues.

FINAL RESULT

We designed and digitally sculpted a collection of multi-piece 3D figures ready for 3D printing, following our client’s wishes.

THE PROJECT

Design and modeling of a ¼ scale female steampunk figure.

Customer needs

The client wanted to create a unique model with steampunk influences for his private collection. All the pieces were developed by our team following his requests and needs.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

Based on some reference images and customer comments, we create each piece and dresses of this figure, with the added complexity of being able to exchange several parts in the final piece.

After creating the pieces in A pose, we prepare the character to be able to pose each element with rigging prepared for this specific client.

Once the modeling was finished, we made a study of the additional pieces so that they could interchange between all of them and we created the sockets with holes for magnets typical of the ¼ scale statues.

FINAL RESULT

We design and digitally sculpt a multi-piece figure ready for 3D printing following the wishes of our client.

THE PROJECT

Internal project of a Superior Spider-Man 3D figure designed for 1/4 scale production. Model not produced or for sale.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

After studying the character of Superior Spider-Man, who is the Doctor Octopus’ mind in the Peter Parker’s body, we tried to convey the duality of the character with a dynamic and aggressive pose.

First, we made several tests of posing and composition of the 3D figure, after we worked on the anatomy, which tried to show a Spider-Man with strong muscles without being exaggerated, however we found it interesting to show muscled legs.

We needed to create the detail in the character and in the base. For the Spider-Man suit we use a non-posed base to define the parts and, once the design of the suit has been transferred to the posed model, we finish the details through “Surface Noise”.

We decided to include the Spider-Bots that give the final touch to this sculpture.

FINAL RESULT

We model a 3D figure with a high level of detail trying to convey the essence of Superior Spider-Man.

*Geek note

This project was originally intended to be able to present two other Spider-Man using the same base and thus compose a “Spider-Man trinity”.

THE PROJECT

3D miniatures sculpture of the legendary Jim Henson’s movie “Labyrinth“.

One 1/10 scale miniature of the Sarah character bust and one miniature of the characters Sarah and Jareth dancing.

CUSTOMER NEEDS

The client needed to capture scenes from the movie. In this case, a miniature of the scene where Sarah is lost in the maze and meets a talking worm and another miniature in which Sarah is dancing with Jareth.

The sculptures had to be approved by the Jim Henson Company and Jennifer Connelly to obtain the commercial license.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

The client gave us the fragments of the film with the scenes. We looked for all the possible references to capture Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie’s faces, their clothing and all the details of the surroundings.

The first thing we did was an approximation of the sculptures to test volumes and validate the poses with the client.

Once the 3D miniatures are detailed, we proceed to make the cuts, validated by the client and his caster.

FINAL RESULT

We model a highly detailed bust and miniature that has commercial licenses and which we hope will make you relive that moment in the film.

THE PROJECT

Sculpture of several 3D miniatures for the successful and official Hellboy board game.

CUSTOMER NEEDS

The client needed to develop several miniatures according to a style that was as close as possible to the Mike Mignola’s comic.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

The client commissioned us to model several 3D miniatures based on different references taken directly from the Hellboy comics, as well as some of the miniatures they have already sculpted, so that we could homogenize the style.

It was challenging for the Barruz Studio team to sculpt 3D miniatures that were perfectly recognizable in a highly changing comic book style and, make the miniatures producibles and paintables by players and collectors.

Among the different models we have nazis, chimpanzees, gorillas, robots, monsters of various types and scales … everything!

When we had designed a simple base, we proposed several poses to the client to finish correcting and detailing the pose, making each model unique and of quality.

Once all the sculptures were finished, we proceeded to carry out the last scale validation and export each 3D miniature in the formats necessary for printing and production.

FINAL RESULT

We modeled various miniatures from the Hellboy universe, validated and licensed by Mikel Mignola, creator of Hellboy.
